Grand Voyages and World Cruises

Most premium and luxury cruise lines offer what they refer to as “Select”, “Extended” or “Grand” Voyages.  These voyages usually exceed 21 days in length and include special or unusual ports of calls, over-night stays in popular destinations, the option to do two, three or four day “overland” shore excursions and exclusive activities on the ship and in port that are unique to the itinerary.  These special features vary from itinerary to itinerary and from cruise line to cruise line.  An Extended or Grand Voyage provides a special journey for the more seasoned cruiser or perhaps a traveler looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. 

 

For those who are really looking for that unique cruise experience how about circumnavigating the globe on a World Cruise for a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience? Although, when I worked on board Holland America cruise ships there were a handful of passengers who did a World Cruise as an annual event!  A World Cruise will last anywhere from 99 to about 120 days.  You can choose to do the entire voyage or perhaps choose certain segments if you are looking to just explore a particular region of the world.

 

I was fortunate enough to sail on board Grand Voyages and a World Cruise during my days as a shore excursion manager with Holland America creating “once-in-a-lifetime” memories that I will forever cherish.
